Apple has fixed the security flaw in Safari browser and will be releasing a patch iOS 4.0.2 in fix of the bug. The release date of the patch is not yet declared. Due to this bug, Comex had successfully jailbreaked the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch using JailbreakMe website. After the release of the iOS 4.0.2 all the new iPhone 4 will come with the security hole fixed which will disable Jailbreak and unlock on idevices with the current jailbreak and unlock exploits.
Apple’s spokesperson stated yesterday about the issue:
“We’re aware of this reported issue, we have already developed a fix and it will be available to customers in an upcoming software update.”
Principal analyst Charlie Miller of Independent Security Evaluators reported:
“There are two distinct vulnerabilities in the iPhone uncovered with the jailbreak software’s release, One flaw is in the way the browser parses PDF files, enabling the code to get inside a protective sandbox, and the other hole allows code to break out of the sandbox and get root, or control, privileges on the device.”
Planetbeing, the famous hacker has also added a tweet to bring in notice that Apple PDF security fix will disable the JailbreakMe to jailbreak the device, so if you want to jailbreak your phone better to buy it as soon as possible.
If you are an existing customer and having iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, don’t upgrade to the new version iOS 4.0.2 if you want your idevice to remain jailbroken. And those who are planning to buy a new iPhone should buy in next 3-4 days as the fix is imminent.
