Jailbreak Apple TV 2,1 Firmware with SHAtter Exploit!

Apple has just released the Apple TV2,1 firmware with version iOS 4.1 for Apple TV. The firmware is available for download and now Apple TV can also be jailbroken to install 3rd applications on Apple TV. The iPhone Dev Team has decrypted the new Apple TV firmware keys using SHAtter exploit successfully. They have released the keys for new iOS 4.1 firmware for Apple. So, Apple TV iOS 4.1 can also be jailbroken using SHAtter exploit along with iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G and iPad. MuscleNerd from Dev Team has also suggested users to buy the Apple TV early to be on safer side and before Apple patches it.

SHAtter exploit is under testing stage and will jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G and iPad for life. According to hackers we will be able to jailbreak Apple TV iOS 4.1 also using the same exploit. Currently it is not useful, but soon it will be useful as the users of Apple TV can jailbreak their Apple TV. Here is what the Dev Team says for jailbreaking Apple TV with SHAtter jailbreak tool.

It’s looking like SHAtter is going to be the gift that keeps on giving. Even though the new AppleTV isn’t yet in people’s homes, the firmware is available on Apple’s normal public distribution servers and SHAtter has been used to decrypt its keys! What benefits other than shoving it to Apple does jailbreaking an Apple TV give you. There is limited on board memory and interface control is not provided. So how does it help?

so true, just like the 4.1 jailbreak was only supposed to be able to jb the new 4th gen devices, and now its supported on all devices (except for 1st gen of course)! apple will keep fixing “holes” and jailbreakers will keep finding ways around them. hackers are the superioir ones, plain and simple(:
